With a commitment to quality and craftsmanship, Oakmont Bakery has become a busy destination for locals and visitors but they handle the crowds very well. It’s a well organized chaos so give yourself some time and take a number.
One of their annual standout specialties, usually starts in the new year, is the Paczki doughnut, a delightful treat with several fillings and flavors to choose from. These Polish pastries are traditionally enjoyed before Lent, and Oakmont Bakery takes pride in crafting them to pure deliciousness. From cream to fruit, there are many options.
The rest of the pastries are just as lovely and enticing. There are endless cases of breads, bagels, cookies, pies, cakes, cookies, custard and coffee.

Exploring the Three Rivers Heritage Trail: Millvale Park to Downtown Pittsburgh
Biking Pittsburgh or looking for a long, flat walk?
Head to the city on a nature journey along the Three Rivers Heritage Trail, stretching from Millvale Riverfront park to the heart of downtown Pittsburgh. The trail winds along the scenic Allegheny River, offering breathtaking views of the city. You will pass through a lot of sights and bridges ending at the iconic Roberto Clemente Bridge. The walker/bike can keep going but my slideshows stops here. This trail seamlessly blends natural beauty with urban landscapes, providing a sort of rails to trails experience with many stop offs. Directly in the middle is Washington’s Landing which provides a lovely backdrop of the city before you continue on towards it. Whether on foot or by bike, the Three Rivers Heritage Trail promises an unforgettable adventure through the heart of the city.

The Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) trail offers a scenic escape through urban nature. Starting at Waterfront at the iconic Pump House and stopping/turning around at the Whitaker Bridge.
A blend of industrial history and nature surrounds you. The trail unfolds with views of the Monongahela River, lush greenery lines the path, an active railroad runs along the trail, and the path goes under the Rankin Bridge.

Meet Lulu, the Mayor of Thornton Park, Orlando, Florida!
This amazing cat who lives and pretty much owns the main drag of Thornton Park. He delights locals while they eat and drink at one of the many hot spots and outdoor patios.
The Falcon Bar, his main stop, creates a “Lulu” calendar every year to raise funds for local stray and feral cats of the neighborhood. This year I submitted a handful of images to the 2024 photo submission contest and won a few spots, including the cover! Lulu did most of the work shooting the location and poses, I just followed along and captured his vision.

AMVETS NATIONAL CONVENTION
Pittsburgh, PA USA – August 2023: AMVETS National Convention
In 2023 Pittsburgh welcomed the AMVETS for their annual National Convention held in a different city each year. This year the event was held at the Wyndham Grand Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh. Over 400 attendees from almost all 50 states convened for a weekend to elect their new National Director and other roles. Here is just a very small slice of what I took over the course of four days. Pitt vs FSU // Acrisure Stadium
Pittsburgh, PA USA – November 5, 2023: The Pitt Panthers football team played the Florida State University Seminoles at Acrisure Stadium.
In a highly anticipated matchup at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh on November 5, 2023, the Florida State Seminoles faced off against the Pitt Panthers. The stadium was full of energy as fans from both teams filled the stadium with anticipation and the weather was warm to leave the jackets at home. I’ve never seen such a sea of blue before. I wish I had gotten a shot of the parking lot from above because it was a sight to see. Anyway, FSU secured a victory, 24-7, disappointing the home crowd and leaving the Seminoles fans very happy.

2023 Delmont Apple Festival in Pennsylvania
The Delmont Apple Festival in Pennsylvania celebrates the autumn harvest and the region’s rich apple orchard tradition. Held in the tiny town of Delmont, the large festival runs over a weekend and offers a variety of apple-based treats, from freshly baked pies to cider donuts. The festival also features live music, craft vendors, a goat farm and ciders. The experience is what Fall in Pennsylvania is about.
